Do you have a story to tell? Does a family member share life stories you would like to preserve? How to manage so much information? Is a memoir more than a list of facts? Eleanor’s method will help you organize material in a meaningful way to both preserve the information and describe the details in a memorable way.
Meet the Author. Have your copy of her books personalized.
We all have stories to tell. Or a family member is willing to collect stories from elders. How to begin? More than a list of dates, places, names, births, employment, marriages, deaths… by collecting the facts, then organizing them as Eleanor suggests, a more lively story can be recorded and shared with family or published. It is worth the effort to preserve these treasures into the future.
Book Clubs are enjoying lively discussions after reading this memoir series. Have your copy personalized. When you purchase “10 Days in December” you will also receive a model of the tiny cabin described in Eleanor’s Journal. Collect the whole series of memoirs.

"10 Days in December... where dreams meet reality..." relates the true story of the first ten days Eleanor and her husband, Kevin, lived in their tiny log cabin. Overjoyed with the way their newly-wed dreams were coming true, they suddenly plunged into frigif temperatures for three weeks. How did they survive the cold, dark and isolation?
"10 Days in January... 1 Husband, 2 Brothers, 3 Sons, 4 Dads" continues the story, beginning way back in Eleanor's earliest childhood memories. How do these indluence her marraige and shape her parenting skills?
This year the Chapters, Indigo and Coles stores are featuring "Canada 150" with catchy slogans like "Read North" and "The World Needs More Canada."
Happy to fit into such a theme, new author, Eleanor Deckert, will meet and greet, sign and share memorable stories of her adventures as a homesteader from 1978-the present.
"Back-to-the-Land" is what we called it back then. Or else "Back-to-Basics" or "Back-to-Nature."
Now people say "Off-the-Grid."
Both "10 Days in December"
and "10 Days in January"
are in stores now.
An enormous mural in the entryway of this store lists famous Canadian authors, artists, musicians, entertainers. Maybe I'll be on that list someday!
Of special interest to parents in the area, "10 Days in January... 1 Husband, 2 Brothers, 3 Sons, 4 Dads" contains many anecdotes describing the author's parenting methods, decisions about chores and discipline, family customs, travels and homeschooling projects.

then "Identity" is the theme of "10 Days in January."
